What the hell is wrong with me?

It’s civilized and condescending at the same time, like a good episode of MASH.

The “sea kittens” stuff is vomity, of course. But as someone who works for a marine conservation nonprofit (disclosure time!), I can tell you the biggest challenge we face is getting people to care. Bluefin tuna aren’t whales or dolphins. But guess what! Whales won’t survive if we take all the fish out of the sea. The system just doesn’t work that way. Meanwhile, the poor individual fisherman has been replaced by multinational corporations that just care about that quarter’s bottom line. It’s bad all around.

Anyway, my point was not that Obama is less qualified than Palin. (Of course, even if Obama is more qualified than Palin – because of how many bills he “co-sponsored” in a State Senate, or whatever – what would that show? Only one of those people is running for President! It’s pretty sad that we’re comparing one ticket’s VP to the other’s P.)

My point was just that using as a talking-point the fact that Palin was the mayor of a small town IN THE PAST, makes no sense. Sarah Palin is not the mayor of any town right now. Anyone, please feel free to speak up if you actually dispute this; otherwise I’m not sure what else there is to say.

All Obama has is 820 laws sponsored in the Illinois State Senate.

Let’s hear more about the self-described “pit-bull with lipstick…”. I’m already impressed.

Thing is, Barack Obama’s preschool days are about 45 years behind him. Governor Palin’s days as mayor of Wasilla, on the other hand, are only six years behind her. I’m not sure there’s much point in comparing Palin’s credentials to Obama’s, as they’re not running for the same office. It would be more accurate to compare her to Joe Biden, and I must say, I am looking forward to that vice presidential debate. There’s plenty of arguing to be done about what enhances presidential (or vice presidential) experience more—a governorship or time in the Senate and whether two years of one outranks four of the other—but thank God this is just a blog and that’s not my job!

You do realize that Palin was the mayor of this town in what they call “THE PAST”, don’t you?

Right NOW (as in the present time) she is a thing they call a “Governor” of a thing they call a “State”.
